Fighting for the Champions League in the top 5 leagues. Which teams are already assured and which will have to settle for the Europa League?

Apart from the title and relegation battles, it is also regularly interesting to watch teams fight for the Champions League. In all the top 5 leagues the battle for the cups is coming to a head, who will come to terms with the Europa League and who will earn a ticket among the elite?

Premier League

In the Premier League, Manchester City and Liverpool are assured of the Champions League. Third placed Chelsea are very close to certainty and only need to get 2 points from two games or for Tottenham not to get the full number.

But there will be a big fight for the last place. Tottenham beat Arsenal on Thursday and shuffled the cards a lot. At the moment they are 1 point behind their rivals with two rounds left in the league.

La Liga

The La Liga is practically decided, although a month ago it was still a four-team battle for three places. But then Betis and Sevilla started to lose ground and Barcelona and Atlético dropped to second and third place.

With two rounds to go, fifth-placed Betis can only leapfrog Sevilla, provided they win both games and Sevilla don’t pick up a point. Thus, the chance is already rather theoretical.

Bundesliga

The Bundesliga already has three certain teams in the Champions League. These include champions Bayern, second-placed Dortmund and third-placed Leverkusen with Patrik Schick. The fourth place will be fought for in the last round.

Leipzig have it all in their own hands, thanks to an evenly matched match (2-1-1) and a better score, they only need to draw at Bielefeld in the last round. Freiburg must beat Leverkusen and hope for a Leipzig defeat at the field of the penultimate Bundesliga team.

Serie A

Serie A is already decided. Italy will send AC Milan, Inter Milan, Napoli and Juventus to next year’s Champions League. This leaves only the league title to be decided, which is being contested by Milan’s rivals with two rounds to go.

Ligue 1

The French Ligue 1 has the worst starting position due to the poor coefficient and does not send 4 participants directly to the Champions League like the above mentioned leagues. The first two teams go directly to the millionaire competition, the third has to go to the preliminary round.

At the moment, only PSG are certain to finish first, with Marseille, Monaco and Nice fighting for the other two spots in the last two rounds.
