Tyson Fury proved to everyone on Saturday that he is the best boxer on the planet. After his win over Dillian Whyte, he also confirmed that he is indeed retiring from boxing. However, he immediately asked to participate in a different environment.
The Gypsy King, as Tyson Fury’s nickname goes, ended his boxing career in spectacular fashion. He managed to knock out Dillian Whyte in a packed Wembley and defended his heavyweight titles.
After the win he confirmed that it was his last professional boxing match, saying goodbye at the age of 33. But it doesn’t mean he’s done with the sport. On the contrary. Now the Englishman wants to focus on other challenges.
Right after the fight, he invited Francis Ngannou, the UFC champion, right into the ring, with whom he wants to have a boxing match one day. Together they announced that they would fight under hybrid rules, fighting each other in MMA gloves, where there is obviously a greater chance of an early finish.
This fight could happen as late as 2023, a lot will depend on how Ngannou resolves his situation in the UFC, which won’t allow him a boxing match.
However, that’s not all Fury has planned. At the press conference after his fight, he revealed that he would like to appear at a WWE event, which will have a show in Cardiff in September. Although WWE holds feature fights, it boasts a large following and popularity worldwide.
Big stars from more than just the sports world regularly attend the show. In 2019, Fury has already appeared at one event, when he took on Braun Strowman in Saudi Arabia.
“I really enjoyed my last time in Saudi Arabia. It would be phenomenal if I could feature in Cardiff,” Fury expressed.
