Great news for all Real Madrid fans. Croatian midfielder Luka Modric has agreed on the terms of a new contract with the club and will continue at the Spanish club for at least another year.
There has been quite a lot of speculation about Modric’s future. At one point, it looked like Real would not be interested in extending the midfielder’s contract and even looked for a possible replacement. But now everything should be different.
Luka Modric has impressed the management with his recent performances and should have earned serious negotiations for a new contract. Even at thirty-six years of age, he is still a much needed player for the Spanish club.
As reported by Tribuna , citing Diario AS, both parties should have already agreed on the terms of a new contract. Modric should have verbally agreed to them, he just needs to confirm them with his signature.
According to Spanish media, the Croatian midfielder should stay at the Santiago Bernabéu for at least another year. Real will extend Modric’s contract by one year, with the contract automatically extending until 2024 if certain conditions are met.
Interestingly enough, Luka Modric could celebrate his 38th birthday at Real, which would be a respectable age to be at such a big club. But Modric will have to avoid injuries in the first place, they could be the biggest obstacle.
Modric is in his tenth year at Real, having come to Spain from Tottenham in England. He has played 429 games in Madrid, scoring 31 goals. But his role is to create play, which is reflected in the number of assists he has, which are many times more than goals.
