The Hammers are still holding out hope that they could challenge for the Champions League, but on Sunday they complicated their fight for the European Cup overall when they failed to beat Burnley on home soil.
West Ham could only manage a 1-1 draw with the team in 18th position, who are fighting to stay up. The defeat was averted by Tomas Soucek, who scored his sixth competitive goal this season with his goal in the 74th minute.
West Ham can be happy that Maxwel Cornet gave away a penalty kick in the first half when he missed the target. But apart from that, they were the better team in the match.
It was Soucek who gave a great performance and was one of the best players of the whole match. WhoScored rated him 7.5. No one in a West Ham jersey got a better mark from the prestigious North, only two of his teammates got a mark higher than 7.
Only two Burnley players got a better rating, namely Wout Weghorst, who provided the only goal in the West Ham net, and goalkeeper Nick Pope. Both players were awarded 7.6.
Alex King and Vladimir Coufal watched the whole game from the bench.
