Martin Fenin was one of the 30,000 fans who came out to support their team in Barcelona on Thursday. But after the game, he got into a fight with several home supporters and was subsequently taken into custody. What did he say?
Much has been written about Frankfurt’s match against Barcelona. But after the game, a video went viral where Barcelona fans attacked an Eintracht fan.
It was subsequently revealed that it was Martin Fenin, who had gone to the match with his wife. Afterwards, a longer part of the video was published, which showed Fenin going to meet the punch.
So how was it? “I don’t even know where it originated. There was an altercation and then it was flying. I saw that there was some video, so I’ve even heard that I was there to provoke something.
But I was mostly sticking up for my wife. I had my shirt ripped, I got slapped from behind, so I went to the guy and went to deal with him. I took a few steps and I got hit,” Fenin said in an interview with Sport.
He was subsequently picked up by police officers and the former Czech national team player headed to custody. “They took me for 12 hours and put me in a room two by three metres. It was concrete, it was cold, it was na**no. They threw me in there, later I got a piece of bread, they didn’t even give me a drink,” he added.
According to his words, he was definitely not the one who provoked everything. “A lot of people thought that I was shitting myself or that I provoked it. I don’t know what kind of asshole would provoke in a foreign city. Let everybody think what they want. There’s no point in convincing them,” Fenin concluded.
On Monday, he was missing from his team’s lineup at 1999 Prague. After 20 rounds, Řeporyje has 27 points and is in the 9th place of the A. class.
