Lionel Messi will not return to Barcelona, not interested in coming back, says club president
The start of this season has been very interesting for Barcelona and Lionel Messi. After a long time, this player left his beloved club. He moved to PSG in France and a rebuilding of the squad began in Catalonia. The start of the season did not go well for Messi or Barcelona and for a long time there was speculation about a return, which has now been denied by Barcelona president Joan Laporta himself.

Lionel Messi has spent an incredible 21 years at Barcelona. He has won many trophies and wanted to continue at the club, but no contract was offered to him. That’s why he traded his beloved club for the rich PSG. However, Messi took some time to acclimatise.
Even Barcelona without Messi did not fare too well. They were losing a lot in the league and it didn’t look good for them. However, another legend returned in Messi’s place. Xavi took the coaching job and managed to get Barcelona into better shape.
However, with the return of another Barcelona legend, which is undoubtedly Messi, things are not looking good. According to Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, there is no chance that the star Argentine could return.
“I have not received a single message from Leo or his representatives in this regard. We are not thinking about it at the moment. We are building a young team that is starting to sit down,” Laporta told RAC1.
Barcelona are therefore unlikely to count on Messi, although Xavi himself would not be opposed to the return of his former partner. However, Messi’s contract at PSG runs until June 2023, so the Catalans would have to wait for a free transfer.
Much more was expected from Messi and the whole of PSG this season. Although the Parisians are leading the domestic league by a large margin, they have already crashed out in the Champions League in the eighth round against Real Madrid, which is being taken as a major setback and disappointment from a star-studded team.
