Star Bruno Fernandez will continue to wear the Red Devils jersey. The Portuguese midfielder has agreed a contract extension with his club, his new deal expires in 2026 and he will become one of the highest paid players in the Premier League.
The Portuguese is doing very well in the Premier League. He has developed into the team’s best player, currently one of the best players at his position. Ronaldo and co. can rely on his outstanding productivity. Out of 117 games, Fernandés has scored 49 goals and assisted 39 more.
A key player for the team, he has also won several club awards, winning the player of the year award twice. No other Red Devils player has created more chances than Fernandés (since 2020).
Even the current performance of this Portuguese is very good. In the Qatar World Cup qualification barrage, he scored 2 goals and helped his national team qualify for the World Cup.
Fernandés is excited about staying at the club
Speaking to the club website after signing his new contract, he said:
“Since I joined the team, I have developed a special relationship with the club and the fans. When I was growing up, Manchester United was my favourite team. I dreamed of playing in this jersey one day.
That dream became a reality a few years ago, which was a huge honour for me. It still feels amazing to have my home stand at Old Trafford, to hear the fans singing my song and celebrating my goals in front of a full Stretford End stand. It’s a huge privilege to be able to wear this jersey and play for this incredible club.”
We have big goals and ambitions that we want to achieve. We want to give the fans the success they definitely deserve. We’ve been able to share some incredible moments together over the last few years, but the best is yet to come.”
The club’s CEO, John Murtough, also commented on keeping the star player:
“Everyone at the club is delighted with Bruno’s performances, he is extremely important to us. His goal and assist stats are phenomenal, he’s been performing very well every game. Bruno’s commitment and fantastic attitude to the team are exactly what we want from a Manchester United player.
He is a top professional with many fantastic qualities that meet the high standards needed to play for this great club. Like everyone at the football club, Fernandez remains very ambitious and determined to ensure Manchester United’s success, we want to get back to fighting for big titles,” the Manchester United club director was quoted as saying.
