Wednesday’s football programme will feature the Champions League and the 19th round of the Premier League. Burnley will face Everton in a rescue clash, with both teams having lost eight of their last nine games.
Burnley have been underachieving since the start of March, losing their last four games, last taking three points in February against Tottenham. They are second to last in the table, four points behind the relegation places.
Everton are clearly the biggest disappointment of the season. It has lost five of its last six league games and is languishing in seventeenth place. Eighteenth-placed Watford have three points less, with the Toffees having two games to spare.
Maxwel Cornet is the mainstay of the home side, although he has been searching for form in recent weeks, with six league goals to his name. Striker Wout Weghorst arrived from Wolfsburg in the winter and has been performing well, scoring once and assisting twice so far.
Demarai Gray is looking good after a good start to the season, scoring five goals and assisting twice so far. At least youngster Anthony Gordon deserves praise, as he has scored three times and assisted on two goals.
Burnley’s defence is working well, but they are not scoring goals. In the last four rounds it has been goalless, scoring only twenty-two times.
Against Everton, however, the Clarets could break their shooting woes, Everton having conceded twelve goals in their last five games.
Considering the home side’s struggling attack, I think Everton will win and bounce back from the relegation zone.
