In turn, we look at the richest three coaches from the English Premier League, the Spanish La Liga, the Italian Serie A and the German Bundesliga. Diego Simeone is the coach who earns the most per month, second place goes to Pep Guardiola and third place goes to Jürgen Klopp and Antonio Conte.
If we don’t count the French Ligue 1, the English Premier League has been spending the most on transfers and player contracts lately. If we look at the coaches, they can also come into some very nice money.
Pep Guardiola, who coaches Manchester City, earns €1.89 million a month. He has been with the club since 2016 and has managed to win a lot of domestic trophies, but he is yet to find success on the international stage. Jürgen Klopp and Antonio Conte will be tied for second place, as both are under contract to earn €1.49 million per month.
The highest paid coach in the world is based in Spain. However, he does not coach Real or Barcelona. It is Diego Simeone, who works for Atletico Madrid. This manager earns a whopping €3.33 million a month. He has been with Atletico since 2011 and managed to win La Liga twice.
The second place in Spain goes to Carlo Ancelotti, who has been managing Real Madrid since last year. He earns 910 000 euros a month. He has worked for Real once before, between 2013 and 2015. Third place goes to Athletic Bilbao’s coach Marcelino, with €500,000 a month.
Let’s move on to the Italian Serie A, where we are most interested in Massimiliano Allegri. This Juventus coach earns 1.17 million euros a month. He coached Juventus from 2014 to 2019, returning to the helm of the Old Lady again in 2021.
José Mourinho occupies the second place in Italy. As coach of AS Roma, he earns 770,000 euros a month. He is followed by Simone Inzaghi, who will coach Inter Milan from 2021. He will receive a salary of 620 000 euros.
The last destination for which L’Equipe has published coaches’ salaries is the German Bundesliga. However, compared to the other top leagues, Germany is slightly behind. Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsman earns 660,000 euros a month.
He is followed by Gerardo Seoane, who also coaches Patrik Schick at Leverkusen. This coach earns 416,000 euros a month. The third position belongs to Marco Rose from Borussia Dortmund, who earns €375,000 per month.
