The former Cage Warrior champion has his second fight in the UFC under his belt. He was able to finish both fights in the first round, the first by TKO, the second by submission. His demeanor, appearance and character have earned him a lot of attention from fans, pundits and the media.
He has been compared to Irish star Conor McGregor. It is expected that he could soon be one of the main stars of the lightweight division and become a champion. The Irishman won the title two years after his debut in the organization, but the Englishman wants to take his time.
In recent days, he has mainly been dealing with his payday for his last fight. If it weren’t for the performance of the night bonus of $50,000, he would have earned just $24,000, with half of that coming from the win bonus.
And the finances are the reason why he wouldn’t want to fight for the title any time soon. “I’m not going to fight for the title or the top rungs for that kind of money. I want to be paid more money before I even get to a title fight,” he expressed in an interview with The Pat McAfee.
Pimblett would like to work his way to a title shot by 2025, as he says he wants to take it one step at a time and keep improving.
Pimblett currently boasts an 18:3 record, at 27 years old he still has plenty of time to improve.
