Trenčín vs. Skalica: Preview and betting tips

In the quarter-finals of the Slovak Slovnaft Cup, the first league team Trenčín and the second league team Skalica will play against each other. The favourite of the duel will be clearly the home team, who play in a higher league than their challenger.

Trenčín finished in eighth place with 25 points after 22 matches in the Slovak top league. Only the top six teams play in the group for the title, so Trenčín are left with only the matches in the group for retention.

The home team will be the favourite of the match, as they are not playing for anything in the first league anymore, so they can fully concentrate on the cup. They are expected to advance to the semi-finals and there it would really be worth the players to give their best and aim to win the cup.

On the other hand, Skalica is not playing at its worst and can therefore trouble its first league opponent. However, they still have a lot of important games to play in the league in which they need to score points in order to hope for promotion. The cup match will therefore remain on the sidelines.

Trenčín has so far knocked out Velky Meder 3::0, Raca 3::0 and Humenné 3::1 in the cup. Skalica beat Malacky 3::0, Kežmarok 3::0 and Šamorín 2::1. Both teams entered the match as favourites and fulfilled this role every time, so we expect Trenčín to fulfil the role of favourite again and to advance to the semi-finals.
