What should you know about Barcelona’s new stadium for the 2023/24 season?
The Catalan big club will not be able to play their home games at the Camp Nou next year. From the 2023/24 season, the Montjuic Olympic Stadium – officially the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys – will become its home. This is due to the planned renovation of the existing Camp Nou stand.

If Barcelona end up signing a sponsorship deal with Spotify, the new stadium will probably be called Spotify – Camp Nou.
The Olympic Stadium was originally built in 1927 for the Barcelona International Expo, which took place two years later.
In addition, Montjuic was the main venue for the 1992 Summer Olympics. However, the stadium had to be renovated two years earlier.
In terms of attendance, it has a smaller capacity than the Camp Nou. It is designed for 60 713 spectators, which means almost forty thousand fewer seats.
Interestingly, Barcelona’s city rival, namely Espanyol Barcelona, played its home games at Montjuic between 1997 and 2009.
Since then, however, the stadium has not hosted any other major football events.
The stadium is owned by the city and Espanyol had to pay rent to play there. This means the club will probably have to do the same.
The amount is likely to be in the millions of euros.
