Yira Sor was the clear star of the double-header with Austrian LASK, scoring three goals for Prague.
The first match was a great success, they won 4:1 and went into the rematch with a big psychological advantage. After 62 minutes in the rematch they were leading 2:1, but then they not only lost their lead, but also lost 3:4 due to two red cards.
Despite this defeat, the Prague team advanced to the next stage of the Conference League. However, the fate was not too kind to the Sešiovans, as in the quarter-finals Jindřich Trpišovský’s charges will face Feyenoord.
The Rotterdam side advanced to the top eight via Partizan Belgrade, who they beat 5:2 on their home ground, and then confirmed their progress to the quarter-finals with a 3:1 victory at their stadium.
The footballers of Slavia Prague already faced the Dutch team in the group stage. Slavia lost the opening match at Feyenoord 1:2, then lost the victory in Eden at the very end of the match and drew 2:2.
“We didn’t want Feyenoord. We have fresh experience with them, we have not won a single game. We know how strong a team they were. Especially in the game against them we were under pressure the whole game. In Eden, despite the sending off, they equalised. We said after the game that they were one of the toughest opponents we have ever faced,” said Trpišovský in an interview for the club’s website.
“We know the opponent and we know what we’re getting into. There have been no personnel changes. We have material from two matches, we know them in detail,” he added.
“If I had to say one positive thing about the draw, one thing for sure is that we have the return match at home in Eden. The fans will help us,” reacted the coach of Slavia on the topic of the return match.
The first game of the EKL will be against Feyenoord on 7 April, on their turf. The return leg will take place a week later, on 14 April.
