How does the world public perceive the ECL lottery? Slavia Prague is considered an underdog
UEFA traditionally draws the quarter-finals and the next stages of its competitions after lunch on Friday. First up was the millionaire Champions League, then the Europa League and lastly the new European Conference League. Czech football has only one representative (only in the ECL) and that is Slavia Prague.
UEFA traditionally draws the quarter-finals and the next stages of its competitions after lunch on Friday. First up was the millionaire Champions League, then the Europa League and lastly the new European Conference League. Czech football has only one representative (only in the ECL) and that is Slavia Prague. The Sešivans have been drawn against a difficult opponent in Feyenoord, to whom the Slavs have a lot to return.
Czech football fans are subconsciously counting on the fact that, unlike the eighth-final against LASK Linz, Slavia will go into the match against Feyenoord as a slight underdog.
The Seychellois will be missing the starting pair of Aiham Ousou and Srdjan Plavsic (due to red cards), which is not the best starting position, and the first game is played on hot ground in De Kuip.
For the EKL roster, the implementation team doesn’t have much choice. Oscar Dorley is likely to feature at left-back and at stopper, Jindřich Trpišovský will have several names to choose from, including Ondřej Kúdela, Maksym Talovjerov and Taras Kacharaba. One of them will probably be joined by Tomas Holeš.
However, reactions have also come from outside the Czech football pond. The world’s leading football media 433 immediately after the draw invited its followers to vote on who they thought would win the Conference Europa League.
According to 433′s Instagram, where the world’s fans had their say, Slavia have the least chance of winning the European trophy. On the other hand, according to the fans, AS Rome has the best chance of winning the ECL, with Norwegian outsider Bodø/Glimt surprisingly second and Slavia’s quarter-final opponent Feyenoord Rotterdam third.
And how do the polls look on the official account of the European Conference League? Currently 31.6% of voters believe that Slavia will beat Feyenoord.
About 20% of voters believe in the semi-final match between Slavia Prague and Olympique Marseille. According to the voters, the option of a semi-final duel between Slavia and PAOK is even less likely, believed by about 6% of voters. The cards from the world public are clearly dealt, but the truth will be shown on the pitch.
