Javid Basharat will still fight in Brno in December 2020 under the Oktagon banner. The Czechoslovakian organization wanted to make him their star, who will head to the UFC. But he didn’t add another fight in the Octagon. Instead, he has now made a very successful debut in the UFC.
Javid Basharat signed with the Octagon as a major talent. Karlos Vémola was a big part of his commitment, as he knew Basharat from his London Shootfighters gym. The goal was clear. To make him a champion and get him into the UFC.
The first one didn’t quite work out. Basharat left London Shootfighters and was to have various problems. Promoter Ondrej Novotny said his future in MMA was unclear.
Instead, his brother Farid, who looked no less talented, appeared in his next fight. But he didn’t get a second fight in the Octagon either. At the same time, he was also supposed to have a title fight with Filip Mack.
Javid, however, fought for a UFC contract last October on Dana White’s Contender Series show, beating Oron Kahlon by guillotine in the third round. Now, he made his debut in the world’s best organization at UFC Vegas 50 over the weekend.
He faced the more experienced Trevin Jones in the cage, but Basharat was the better fighter the entire fight and it showed in the judges’ scoring. They saw Basharat’s victory quite clearly as they scored the match 30-27, 30-27 and 29-27.
“I am ready for this level. I suspected it but now I am convinced. This is what I have been living for. Everything was the way I envisioned it. I just didn’t manage to end the match early,” he expressed in a post-match interview.
His goal is clear. He wants to become a world champion. He currently has a magnificent record of 12-0, and at 26 years old, his entire career is still ahead of him. The potential is huge.
