On Saturday night another tournament called Oktagon 31 took place. During the gala we learned a lot of interesting news. Probably the biggest bombshell was dropped by the organization during the break between the main card matches.
Oktagon pulled out a medallion that announced the organization’s long-awaited entry into the German market. The fact that Oktagon is becoming a European organization takes on real form with this moment.
During the Oktagon 31 tournament, the organization promoted a new installment of the Oktagon Challenge, the finale of which is expected to take place in Germany. Oktagon Výzva is an interesting project in which young Czech-Slovak MMA hopefuls compete against each other.
From the idea of the mentioned project came such MMA stars as Gábor Borároš, Samuel Pirát Krištofič or Karol Ryšavý. The Octagon Challenge will have 9 episodes, from which one winner will emerge from a total of eight fighters.
Co-owner of Oktagon Palo Neruda presented crucial information when introducing the project. “We are entering the German market with this project,” promoter Neruda said during Oktagon 31.
“We’ve been working on this expansion for a long time and now it’s finally coming. This isa huge strategic step for us,” the Slovak promoter looked forward to.
The coaches of the two teams that will produce the two finalists will be some of Germany’s best MMA fighters. On one side will be well-known to the Czech audience Oktagon fighters Stephan Puetz and Christian Eckerlin, on the other side will be the star brothers Martin and David Zawad.
The older of the brothers Martin is a very experienced fighter with 38 fights, who fought for example in Polish KSW. David then came to the Octagon straight from the UFC, where he didn’t do so well, but the German is a guarantee of another great spectacle.
“There will be fighters that the Czechoslovak audience already knows very well, but we won’t reveal them yet,” said Neruda. “The final will then take place on June 4 in Frankfurt,” he introduced the venue for the final project finale.
We will see the first episode of the Octagon Challenge on April 16. You can watch it on the well-known platform Oktagon.tv.
