Manchester United believe they will attract star players this summer! So who is on his radar?
The current season has not been a dazzling one for Manchester United so far. In the English Premier League, they are still in the top four, but if Tottenham and Arsenal manage to postpone their matches, Manchester United will drop out of it again. Even in this case, however, the club’s management believes it will bring in star players in the summer.
According to ESPN , Manchester United officials remain confident that they can attract some truly star names to the club this summer, even if they miss out on a place in the top four and fail to qualify for the Champions League.
There are several teams in contention for positions that guarantee participation in the most prestigious league competition next season. The difference between third and eighth place is just ten points.
In addition to Manchester United, the teams are Chelsea, West Ham, Arsenal, Tottenham and Wolverhampton. United and West Ham have the most games played of the above teams, while the others have two to three games to play.
Specifically, Chelsea and Tottenham have two more games to play, Arsenal even three, Wolves one.
In any case, the Red Devils are ready to spend enough in the summer to get the dream reinforcements. They are particularly interested in West Ham’s Declan Rice and Tottenham’s Harry Kane. However, both have made it clear that if they were to leave their clubs, it would only be to play in Europe’s most famous competition.
Whether or not Manchester United qualify for the Champions League, however, may not be a relevant indicator. After all, in 2016, the season before the English side played in the Europa League, they acquired Paul Pogba for a record £89.3 million.
Moreover, the club is now in the process of searching for a new and permanent manager for the team. It would like to appoint one well in advance of the summer transfer window. The manager would then have sufficient influence over the players he brings in.
The United organisation will also have to address the future of a number of their key players who are coming to the end of their contracts. Cristiano Ronaldo, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, David De Gea and Fred have contracts until 2023, but with an option for another year.
This is also something that Manchester United management must look at when signing a new contract.
