Coufal in the Premier League Team of the Month. Along with de Bruyne and Manchester United’s executioner
West Ham only scored three out of a possible nine points in the league in January and dropped out of the top four, yet Vladimir Coufal was still named in Whoscored.com’s top line-up of the month. Who else can we find in the squad?

Coufal started all three of West Ham’s games in January. He assisted Jarrod Bowen’s decisive goal against Norwich, but then he failed to score against Leeds (2: 3), where all three of Jack Harrison’s goals went through him.
He also played seventy minutes in the match against Manchester United (0:1), with the decisive goal coming in stoppage time when Coufal was no longer on the pitch. For January, he earned a 7.30 grade from the statistics server.
His defensive teammates are Southampton’s Mohamed Salisu (7.49) and Wolverhampton’s Max Kilman (7.29), while Leeds’ versatile Stuart Dallas (7.56) is on the left side of defence. Salisu will be especially remembered for his heroic performance against Manchester City (1-1).
In the midfield we find the expected trio. Joao Moutinho (7.96) scored two goals and assisted once in January, while Kevin de Bruyne (7.72) and Hakim Ziyech (7.66) also had an excellent month. The Chelsea midfielder stunned the entire Premier League with a wonderful strike into the Spurs net.
In attack, the trio of Emiliano Buendía (8.05), Harry Kane (7.69), Jack Harrison (8.09) is operating. On the other hand, James Ward-Prowse and Jarrod Bowen are somewhat unexpectedly missing, both of whom were nominated for player of the month.
Also shocking is José Sá at goalkeeper. The Portuguese goalkeeper undoubtedly deserves praise for his first season in the Premier League, but de Gea dominated the fans’ vote for the best player of January, so his absence from the line-up is at least something to ponder.
