Francis Ngannou only recently defended his UFC heavyweight title, but things aren’t looking any better with his new contract negotiations. So everything looks like the champion will be able to fulfill his dream and take a boxing match with Tyson Fury. When and where could it happen?
He defended his title against Cyril Gano in January, now his future is pretty much uncertain. Francis Ngannou was negotiating a new contract with the UFC before his fight, but he didn’t reach an agreement with the famous organization.
Although he was offered more money, the champion let it be known that now it’s not just about money, but about principle. He wants to be allowed boxing matches in the new contract. If he gets that through, it would be a great thing for all the other fighters in the organization.
Even before the fight with Gan, Ngannou had already arranged a boxing match with champion Tyson Fury, who is definitely not afraid of measuring his strength with the UFC star. On the contrary. He’d like to go toe-to-toe with him as much as possible.
Now the boxing star has even revealed when the fight is expected to take place.
“Next year I will fight Francis Ngannou in Las Vegas. It could be in February or March. It will be a big event. I believe it will break all the PPV records in the US. Two heavyweight champions against each other, who wouldn’t want to see that?” he expressed in an interview with The Manchester Evening.
This year, Fury wants to face Dillian Whyte and Oleksandr Usyk.
Ngannou has let it be known in the past that the fight with Fury will happen regardless of whether or not he signs with the UFC.
