In 2020, it was reported in the media that former undefeated lightweight titleholder Khabib Nurmagomedov became the owner of Eagle Fight Championship, an MMA organization operating primarily in his native Dagestan. During his promotion, he has publicly stated several times that he wants to make his company one of the world’s leading MMA organizations.

Many considered his talk a marketing ploy and did not attach any particular significance to his statements. However, in 2021 alone, his organization held a total of 14 events and even announced expansion into the US.

In fact, on Friday, the EAGLE FC 44:: Spong vs Kharitonov tournament was held in Miami.

UFC promoter Dana White knows that this is not idle talk.

“I have to consider the Khabib-led EAGLE FC organization as direct competition. Frankly, the guy has an incredible financial background and a lot of friends and sponsors around him. If any organization has a chance to make it big in MMA globally, it’s his,” he told the Full Send podcast.

Khabib himself at a press conference held for EAGLE FC 46:: Kevin Lee vs. Diego Sanchez, which is scheduled to take place again in the U.S. on March 11, 2022, he warned the world’s two biggest organizations.

“UFC and Bellator should be cautious with their fighters. If they don’t trust their fighters, EAGLE FC is there for them. We try to sign the best and most famous fighters, but we don’t forget about the younger generation,” he expressed.

There was even a report going through the media in the last few days that Khabib had contacted Jake Paul’s team and offered him a contract. In fact, the young YouTuber, who has fought former MMA legends in the past year and also regularly lobbies MMA fighters for better pay and healthcare, hasn’t ruled out the possibility of “cutting” an MMA fight.

It’s no secret that he took up wrestling while in college and was quite successful. Only time will tell how it will all turn out with the EAGLE FC organization, but we can say with a clear conscience that he is already heading in a very positive direction.
