Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappé have reportedly reached an agreement that would see the French international join Los Blancos on a free transferin the summer. So it looks like the long saga that filled the headlines of the world’s leading newspapers throughout last summer is over.
The French striker’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain runs until June 30 this year, but Mbappé has rejected all the club’s offers for an extension precisely because of Real Madrid’s interest.
By doing so, Real Madrid would have saved significantly on the transfer fee and would have invested the money saved in convincing the player himself. He would have become the main face not only of Real Madrid but also of La Liga.
According to German publication Bild, Mbappé will earn €50 million gross per season at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. This will make the 23-year-old the highest paid player in the world ahead of Lionel Messi. In addition, there is speculation of a very high signing bonus, which is expected to be around 80 million euros!
As previously reported by the Spanish media, the agreement between the two parties will not be officially announced until after the Champions League semi-final duel between Real Madrid and PSG. This is the condition of the player himself, whose priority is to antagonise the club’s fans as little as possible. He wants to say goodbye to them by winning not only Ligue 1, in which the Parisian club is well placed, but also the millionaire Champions League.
The German newspaper also points out that the club’s management has already given up its efforts to extend Mbappé’s contract. We will see in the coming weeks if the speculation is confirmed.
