What does the most expensive Czech football player of all time look like? Neither Schick nor Cech are missing

In the past and present there are some Czech football players who have been or are being interested by a large number of clubs that are or were willing to pay interesting transfer sums. Let’s take a look at what the most expensive eleven of our footballers would look like.

Goalkeeper – Petr Cech – 14 million euros
Petr Cech moved to Chelsea in 2004 for €13 million, eleven years later he moved from Chelsea to Arsenal who paid one million euros more for him. Both transfers are the most expensive transfers of a Czech goalkeeper in history.

Petr Čech won one FA Cup with Arsenal and triumphed twice in the English Super Cup. After the transfer for 14 million euros, he played 110 games for the Gunners. He became the Premier League record holder for the number of zeros scored, keeping 202 games clean sheet.

Currently, Petr Cech is back at Chelsea. He works there as sporting director. However, he was also listed as number 39 on the roster. Mainly in case Chelsea don’t have another goalkeeper due to coronavirus.

Right-back – Vladimir Coufal – €6 million
A record transfer of a right-back took place between Slavia and West Ham, where the player moved for 6 million euros. He has built a strong position here and is one of the mainstays of the team. He has been in London since 2020. Among his greatest achievements with the team is qualifying for the Europa League.

Central defender – Stefan Simic – €10 million
The Czech defender, who is of Croatian-Bosnian descent, transferred from Genoa to AC Milan in 2013 for the sum of €10 million. He was hoping to establish himself in the team and make regular appearances. Instead, however, he wandered around on loan.

Thus, he didn’t make his way into AC Milan’s starting line-up. In 2019, his contract expired and the player moved for free to Hajduk Split, who play in the top Croatian league.

Central defender – Jiri Jarosik – €12 million
This defender made an unexpected move from Russian side CSKA Moscow to Chelsea in London for €12 million. He only stayed there for one season, but still managed to win the league and the cup with the team. He often played in midfield for Chelsea, but he is a former Czech stopper.

He ended his playing career in 2015 at Deportivo in Spain. He currently works for FK Teplice as head coach.

Left-back – Marek Jankulovski – €8.5 million
Marek Jankulovski transferred from Udinese to AC Milan in 2005, where he spent 6 seasons. With AC Milan, he became Italian Serie A champion once, and also won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.

He spent almost 12 years in Italy. In addition to his time at AC Milan and Udinese, he also played for Napoli. He started and ended his career at Baník Ostrava. He now serves on the board of his parent club.

Central midfielder – Tomas Soucek – €16.2 million
Perhaps the most famous Czech footballer at the moment, he transferred to West Ham London for €16.2 million in 2020. He immediately became the cornerstone and engine of the team, managing to win over a large number of fans in England.

He is a regular in the starting line-up and can score goals in important moments. His biggest achievement at West Ham so far is qualifying for the Europa League.

Central midfielder – Tomas Rosicky – €14.5 million
The most expensive player ever to move abroad from our league was Tomas Rosicky, who was acquired from Sparta by German side Borussia Dortmund in 2001. Tomáš Rosický spent 5 seasons in the German Bundesliga.

With Borussia Dortmund he won the league title and played in the Champions League final, in which his team failed. He retired from playing in 2017. He now works for AC Sparta Prague as a sporting director.

Right midfielder – Karel Poborský – €4 million
A player who shone in the jersey of SK Slavia Praha and at EURO 1996 in England, he transferred to Manchester United in 1996, who bought him immediately after the European Championship. He paid €4 million for Karel Poborski.

He spent two seasons in the Red Devils’ jersey and celebrated victories in the English league and cup. He is now a football official. He applied for the post of head of the FAČR.

Left midfielder – Pavel Nedved – €45 million
The most expensive Czech footballer is Pavel Nedved, who moved from Lazio Roma to Juventus for a record €45 million in 2001. It was a successful transfer, winning the league twice and the cup twice. He also played in the Champions League final but did not win.

In 2003, he won the Ballon d’Or. Pavel Nedved became a Juventus legend. He remained loyal to the team even after his move to the lower Italian league. He currently serves as the club’s vice-president.

Striker – Matej Vydra – €12.2 million
One of the most expensive eleven is striker Matej Vydra, who moved from Derby County to Burnley, who play in the English Premier League, in 2018. He has been through several clubs in England, and is now a regular for Burnley as they fight for survival in the top English league.

Striker – Patrik Schick – €42 million
The talented Czech striker almost equalled Pavel Nedved’s transfer record. In 2018, his transfer from Sampdoria to AS Roma for €42 million took place. The amount was high, but Patrik Schick did not live up to expectations here.

He moved to Leipzig in Germany, now he is at Bayer Leverkusen and is one of the best strikers playing in the Bundesliga. His current value is also around 40 million euros.
