Speculations about Anthony Martial’s departure from Manchester United are now becoming a reality. The 26-year-old French striker is hoping to get more playing time and get back to his optimum form.

The whole saga started back in December when Manchester United head coach Ralf Ragnick decided not to nominate Anthony Martial for the January game against Aston Villa. It was all down to claims by his agent Philippe Lamboley, who outlined that the Frenchman would be interested in leaving in the winter transfer window.

According to coach Ragnick’s claims, the French striker was not interested in playing in a Red Devils jersey. But Martial refuted those claims: ‘I will never refuse to play a game for Manchester United, he wrote on his Instagram.

Several clubs were already interested in the 26-year-old striker at the time, including Tottenham and Newcastle. According to speculation, Barcelona and Juventus were also circling around him.

Sevilla, who are currently second in La Liga and only four points behind first-placed Real Madrid, were already keen to bring the Red Devils striker into their ranks in December, with the Andalusian club a priority for Martial.

The two clubs eventually agreed on a six-month loan deal for the player. Sevilla will pay United 6 million euros, plus cover the striker’s weekly salary of £150,000 (almost 4.4 million crowns). Martial flew to his new destination on the night of Monday to Tuesday.
