Antonín Barák, a midfielder of the Italian team Hellas Verona, has recently made another big step forward in his career with his performances. Newcastle United from England are interested in him. There has also been talk of West Ham United.
With the arrival of new owners at St. James’ Park, the club is set for a massive strengthening of the team, which is currently in 18th relegation place in the Premier League.
And that could include Czech national team offensive midfielder Antonín Barák. Newcastle showed interest in him in the summer. However, the asking price of 20 million euros (roughly half a billion crowns) ended the negotiations.
But with a wealthy owner at their back, the Magpies want him again.
However, the amount has changed recently after Barak’s excellent performances. “How much is Barak worth? We say a lot. I read some numbers and it makes me laugh. 25 million? I don’t know, I don’t think it’s enough,” L’Arena quoted Hellas Verona boss Maurizio Setti as saying last week.
Barak has already scored eight goals in Serie A this season. A week ago, he became the second Czech ever to score a hat-trick in the competition, after Tomas Skuhravy, in a match against Sassuolo.
Newcastle United has already had a successful career with goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek, who retired from the club in 2006.
Recently, there has been talk about the interest of another Premier League club, West Ham United, where a trio of Czech national team players Soucek, Coufal and Kral are already playing. However, the latter has recently been interested in one player after another.
