Miesha Tate has been a big target of criticism recently. The reason? The former UFC champion was asked if she would set up a profile on the OnlyFans platform. Her answer caused a stir. Therefore, the American fighter has now decided to clarify her statement. What did she say?
Last week, Miesha Tate’s statement caused a big stir. Based on one of her statements in a YouTube video, she was asked if she would ever set up a profile on the OnlyFans platform. “Did I say in that video that I was desperate?” the former UFC champion responded.
Without elaborating further, this response understandably caused quite a stir. Many female fighters who are on OnlyFans have spoken out. Tate has even been accused of needlessly picking on female fighters who may only want to show their femininity in this way.
The fact remains, however, that many female fighters make money this way. It’s no secret that there’s still not that much money in combat sports. There is a lot of money to be made this way.
Former UFC fighter Paige VanZant, for example, already knows about this and has revealed that she earns more money per month than she receives from the BKFC, where she now works, after setting up her own website where she shares intimate photos and videos.
And how is Tate responding to the criticism of her statement? First and foremost, she apologized to all concerned, not meaning to offend or offend anyone. Secondly, she explained that it was not a statement she made, but rather a sentence taken out of context, but acknowledged that she could have used a better choice of words.
Her position on OnlyFans, however, remains the same. “I don’t want to have OnlyFans. I don’t want to do it. People write me off as a fighter, so I’m going to do everything I can to be taken seriously. I don’t want people to perceive that wrestling is secondary to me. I don’t want people to care about me because of OnlyFans,” she expressed to MMA Fighting.
However, if someone wants to make money this way, Tate only encourages it. He certainly doesn’t want to stop anyone from doing so.
Tate is a mother of two, plus she’s engaged. “I want to fight, I don’t need the money. I wouldn’t go selling myself on OnlyFans for money. It’ s not the direction I want to go,” she said.
