It was the European Championships and in the first match of Denmark he collapsed out of nowhere. Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during the game. For a long time it was questioned whether he would play at all, but now he is ready to play again and intends to take part in the World Championship in Qatar.
Christian Eriksen has not appeared in a competitive match since his collapse. This means that he hasn’t played full-time football for over half a year. Despite this, he believes that he will go to the World Cup with the Danish team.
The Danish international and current Inter player has undergone an operation to insert a defibrillator into his body. He has gradually started training and now he would like to return to full training and take part in competitive matches again.
However, he cannot play in the Italian Serie A with his defibrillator. Therefore, the player announces to the world that he is available. He wishes he could transfer and play for his new team.
His next goals include impressing the coach of the Danish national team. In fact, Eriksen believes that he can still participate in the World Cup in Qatar, which will be played at the end of 2022.
What message did he send to the coach? ”My goal is to play at the World Cup in Qatar. I want to play. I haven’t thought about anything else all this time. It’s a goal, a dream.”
“Whether I get selected is another thing, but I dream of coming back. I’m sure I can come back. Physically, I’m back in top form. Until then, I will just play football and prove that I am back at the same level,” says the Danish midfielder.
Eriksen is aware of what it means to represent his country. He dreams of playing in the national jersey again. Another collapse will not happen. He wishes he could fight for Denmark on the football field.
Above all, Eriksen wants to show not only others but also himself that he can still be a valid representative. Now he just has to wait for the coach’s statement on whether or not his heart is an obstacle.
At the end of his statement, Eriksen thanked everyone who supported and helped him both during the incident and in the months to come.
