AS Roma and Juventus are not where they imagined they would be in Serie A this season. The Old Lady has had a really bad start to the season but has managed to bounce back. However, both teams are significantly behind at the top of the league.
The home side Roma started very actively and it paid off in the 11th minute. Tammy Abraham sent his team into the lead after a headed goal. However, the visitors did not lose for long. Juventus captain Paulo Dybala fired in from outside the box to level the match at 1-1.
The score was level at half-time. However, 3 minutes into the second half, the home side took the lead again. Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s shot was tipped over, but still found the back of the net.
Five minutes later, the lead was two goals. AS Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini sent in a beautiful shot from a direct kick and the home fans were unstoppable. They began to celebrate. But the joy began to fade.
In the 70th minute, Manuel Locatelli reduced the arrears with a header. Two minutes later, the score was level. Dejan Kulusevski scored after a mix-up in the penalty area. The 77th minute came and the visitors were suddenly in the lead. Mattia de Sciglio completed the turnaround.
But the dramatic second half was not over. At 4-3 to Juventus, Matthijs de Ligt received a second yellow card and the referee sent him to the dressing room early. AS Roma were awarded a penalty. Pellegrini, who converted the direct kick beautifully, failed to take the penalty.
Juventus beat the home Romans after a fantastic turnaround to take all the points home after a 4-3 win. Juventus are now in 5th place in Serie A, with Roma occupying 7th position.
