The players of West Ham London lost in the 19th round against Southampton and dropped down the table. The crisis at the Hammers has been going on for a long time and they are still unable to find the lost form back. Tomas Soucek admits that frustration is prevailing in the team.
Tomáš Souček and Vladimír Coufal appeared in West Ham’s starting line-up in Sunday’s game against Southampton, but even the deployment of two Czech national players did not help and the Hammers lost. Alex Kral did not start again.
Even though West Ham played at their home stadium, they couldn’t win. The visitors from Southampton won 3:2 and took home all three points.
On the other hand, West Ham did not win again. Out of the last five competitive matches, they managed to draw only once, the other four matches were lost by the Hammers’ players. They dropped from 4th place to 6th in the league. If Manchester United wins the playoff, they will drop to seventh position.
“This was not the way we wanted to present ourselves. We are frustrated. But we have another game coming up and we have to win it. We will give it everything. We will recover and prepare for another very important game,” Tomáš Souček sent a message to the fans.
Vladimír Coufal is also aware that the defeat was shameful. A team like West Ham cannot get three goals at home against a weaker opponent. He was also disappointed that his team managed to come back into the game twice, but they couldn’t keep the positive result.
Still, Coufal believes West Ham are having a good season. They continue to hold the top spot in the Premier League. He believes that the lost form will soon return. He says all they need to do is get back to defending better and being more effective in the end.
“It was not good. We were better in the second half but we didn’t play well in the opening half and I have no explanation for that. Twice we managed to get back into the game and we had over 20 minutes left to win the game, but then we got another goal from a direct kick. It was not our day,” David Moyes, West Ham manager, finally assessed the match.
West Ham’s next game will be against Watford, who are up to 17th place. This game should be the one that will get the Hammers back on track and back in form. The match will take place on December 28th. This will be the last match in the Hammers’ 2021 calendar year.
