Monaco and Lille, two very successful teams from last season in Ligue 1, are now floundering in the middle of the table. However, they are not losing many points to second place, so the eventual winner could move up significantly, the loser will only deepen the crisis.

Monaco’s players did very well in the autumn, but at the end of October they seemed to run out of energy and couldn’t score a goal in their last 3 games. However, they didn’t score in the last two, so at least coach Niko Kovač can be satisfied with the defence.

What definitely looks in Monaco’s favour are the home games. In the last 5, the Prince’s charges have won 13 points in front of their home crowd with a score of 10::2 and they have lost only once out of the last 11 home games against Lille.

The fatigue seems to have taken its toll on Lille as well, who have only surprisingly beaten Sevilla in their last 6 matches at their own stadium. Otherwise, it’s a big misery for the French champion!

Coach Jocelyn Gourvennec still can’t find the right recipe to repeat last season’s success. The problem is mainly in attack, as only Jonathan David (8 goals) scored more than 2 goals. And we are talking only about Burak Yilmaz (2 goals), otherwise everyone else scored only one league goal.

Although Lille is right behind Monaco in 12th place, they are currently 8 points behind the second team – Lens, and any loss will hurt them much more than their opponents.

As already mentioned, Monaco are doing great at home, while Lille are not doing well at all away this season, having won only once out of 2 league games. Last season, they won 12 out of 14 away games.

Both the bookmakers and I personally favour Monaco. Good results at home are not to be ignored, but neither are Lille’s away games this season!

On the other hand, on closer analysis, it has to be said that Lille have not played bad games recently, while Monaco have not fared particularly well going forward. That’s also why I see a big chance in a draw.
