Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has turned down a fabulous offer from Newcastle. The German goalkeeper wants to keep fighting with Barcelona to return to the world’s top flight.
Not long ago, Diario Sport came up with the interesting information that Newcastle are interested in ter Stegen. The Barcelona goalkeeper was to be contacted by the English club and offered solid salary terms.
However, the transfer quickly fell through. Ter Stegen rejected Newcastle’s offer. The German goalkeeper did not see any prospects in his new potential engagement and preferred his current job at Barcelona.
Here he is trying to bridge the generational change with the team and get back among the world’s top players as soon as possible. However, Barcelona will need time, they don’t look at all cohesive at the moment and they don’t have the quality of squad to do so.
Barcelona are currently in ninth place in La Liga, something the club’s management is definitely not used to. The new coach Xavi has joined the team and should bring it back to the ranks that ensure participation in the European Cups.
Newcastle, on the other hand, have relegation worries. They are still in 19th place and desperately need strengthening. The English club has already contacted several clubs. However, none of them have yet come forward to release the players.
