After 18 years at the professional level, Sergio Agüero must end his football career at the age of thirty-three. The termination comes after heart problems were discovered recently.
Doctors advised the star Argentine to end his career earlier, but Agüero wanted to continue. He has now realised that he can no longer do so.
The Argentine, who has been with Barcelona since the summer, suffered a cardiac arrhythmia in a match in early November against Alavés that ended 1-1. Originally, it looked like he would be out for three months. Later, however, doctors came up with worse news, not recommending that the striker return to the pitch.
Agüero has scheduled a press conference for next week, where he will announce his decision to the whole world. He is ready to end his career. The press conference will certainly be very emotional.
He made his name most famously at Manchester City, where the fans consider him a legend. He spent ten years at the club. He played 390 games, scored 260 goals and added 73 assists. He won a total of 15 trophies during his time at the club.
He definitely wanted to continue collecting trophies at Barcelona, where he moved in the summer. However, health problems would not allow him to do so. Barcelona urgently need to bring in a replacement for Agüero in January. One possibility is Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.
