The Czech national team confirmed its role as a big favourite and defeated Kuwait 7: 0. Jan Sýkora scored two goals for his team, the returnee came on the field in the 72nd minute and asked for another chance in the national team.
Two goals in nineteen minutes is the calling card of Jan Sýkora from Plzeň, who returned to the national team after more than three years.
The now twenty-seven-year-old midfielder hoped to wear the jersey with the lion on his chest again and it happened in the preparatory match where he increased the score.
“It was great. I believed I could play for a while. I’m even happier that it turned out like this and I scored two goals. I’m glad that I helped the team, that we made it through and prepared for the game against Estonia on Tuesday,” he said at the press conference.
He played his last game against Russia under coach Karel Jarolim, but the 1:5 loss cost him his place. Then Jaroslav Šilhavy, the current coach, came in.
“Since I played my last game for the national team, I had my return in the top spot in my goals. I wanted to play more games for the national team, for me it’s the most it can be. I’m happy that I came back to the Czech Republic (to Plzen) in the summer, that the coaches called me up and I was able to score two goals,” he added.
But apart from the goals, he put in a pretty good performance and it is possible that we will see him again on Tuesday when the Czech Republic plays Estonia in the World Cup qualifier at Letná.
