Fantastic night! Another UFC gala offered some great fights and beautiful endings. The champions remain the same
The UFC is currently offering one great tournament after another. The 268-rated gala featured two title fights and the main card bouts were very attractive indeed. Who did well?
The UFC is currently offering one great tournament after another. The 268-rated gala featured two title fights and the main card bouts were very attractive indeed. Who did well?
Just where to start? Even the prelims card of the weekend tournament offered some attractive duels, but it wasn’t until the first main card match that all hell broke loose. Lightweight stars, namely Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler, faced each other in the cage.
Both fighters landed a good portion of hard punches, it’s a wonder the fight didn’t end with a knockout for either fighter. Gaethje was the more dominant fighter in the bout and he also scored a points victory. This duel was a real advertisement for MMA.
Shane Burgos and Billy Quarantillo provided another attractive battle. However, it also ended on points with the former winning.
The first KO of the main card was scored by Marlon Vera, who stopped Frankie Edgar in the third round.
The last two fights were title fights, both of which were rematches. A beautiful girl’s war was staged by Rose Namajunas and Weili Zhang. The fight was really even, perhaps no points judge would want to judge it. But the former defended her title on points.
Kamaru Usman’s fight with Colby Covington looked similar, but Usman was more dominant than Namajunas. He didn’t give his rival much of a chance to win. Just incredible form. Usman will be hard to dethrone.
Then the heavyweight Chris Barnett got the attention at the tournament, who for his weight and stature, showed an excellent and attractive finish of his opponent and an acrobatic celebration.
The performance of the evening was therefore well deserved.
