Hazard is said not to be playing at Real Madrid because of his bad attitude and unprofessionalism. The coaches should have written him off by now
Eden Hazard, just three years ago this name was causing great alarm among all Premier League defences. But when you say it today, it elicits more of a scoff or a sigh. The Belgian superstar’s career is going down the drain at Real Madrid, and according to the Spanish media, it’s his own fault.
Eden Hazard, just three years ago this name was causing great alarm among all Premier League defences. But when you say it today, it elicits more of a scoff or a sigh. The Belgian superstar’s career is going down the drain at Real Madrid, and according to the Spanish media, it’s his own fault.
When Hazard transferred from Chelsea to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019, he had the hallmark of being the best player in the Premier League and one of the best footballers in the world. Cut to November 2021, Hazard is a substitute for the White Ballet, and in the last three games he has come on for a tactical 6 and 8 minutes, once not even getting on the pitch at all.
How is it possible to experience such a decline? Hazard’s career at Real Madrid was extremely hampered by injuries at the start. Although he is in his third season in Madrid, he has yet to score in seven consecutive games. This then makes it difficult for him to get into playing practice and fitness.
But while Zinedine Zidane had great faith in Hazard’s abilities and every time he came back from the sideline, his place in the line-up was secure, new coach Carlo Ancelotti is certainly not taking kindly to the 30-year-old Belgian.
Although he has finally been fit for some time now, he is not starting for Real Madrid. He often sits on the bench, occasionally coming on as a substitute. When reporters asked Ancelotti about the situation regarding Hazard, he simply replied. But the problem is that there is a coach who prefers other players,” Ancelotti made it clear he has no regard for Hazard’s star status.
And the whole problem may have deeper roots. You may have noticed Hazard’s lifestyle problems, with him turning up to training on several occasions significantly overweight. According to the Spanish media, this is also thought to be the origin of Hazard’s situation at Real.
“Hazard is not getting minutes because of his bad attitude and unprofessionalism. The management team is slowly throwing in the towel with him,” said Edu Aguirre on El Chirinquito.
There really must be an attitude problem with Hazard, as he certainly can’t complain about the lack of opportunities under Ancelotti. The Italian coach came up with the idea of getting Hazard back to his best form, which is why he was always in the starting line-up in the first two rounds.
Even after the national break in September, he was trusted by the coach, but somehow he didn’t repay it. He brought back a slight injury from the October break, which caused him to miss the Champions League game against Shakhtar.
But then he recovered and was ready for the matches. But something changed. Hazard spent the whole El Clásico only on the bench, with Osasuna he came on the pitch for 20 minutes. Against Elche he got 6 minutes, in the Champions League against Shakhtar he sat on the bench the whole game and with Vallecano he came on for 8 minutes.
So it’s quite clear that Ancelotti doesn’t count on Hazard and prefers to rely on youngsters who have a bigger future. And it’s paying off, Vinícius has swung into the form of his life, and the rainbow Brazilian winger Rodrygo was also playing great before his injury.
