Aaron Ramsdale made eight saves against Leicester City. In particular, the one against Maddison’s shot from a direct kick was simply amazing.

It was a bit of a surprise move, but it seems to have paid off. Aaron Ramsdale joined Arsenal before this season from relegated Sheffield United. He was probably counted on to be the number two goalkeeper, after all the Gunners have Bernd Leno on their roster. However, in recent weeks, it is Ramsdale who has been guarding Arsenal’s three poles.

The Chesterfield graduate did not have a good season before his transfer to the current team. He was one of the few players to be relegated from the Premier League in two consecutive seasons. First he experienced this unflattering situation with Bournemouth, then a year later in the jersey of the aforementioned Sheffield United.

However, after his move to London, he is showing just how good a goalkeeper he can be. Perhaps not in a team consumed by bad temper and the frustration of one loss after another. In a squad presenting quality performances, his performances only seem to be increasing.

Saturday’s performance against Leicester was proof of that. It was against his players that he excelled and made eight saves, which subsequently resulted in a clean sheet.

Shortly before going to the booths, the 23-year-old goalkeeper shone against James Maddison’s shot from a direct kick. In the bright sunshine, he managed to find the flying ball and pushed it onto the crossbar with a deft save. He then immediately rallied to turn away the rebound. He was lucky to cover it, but in the end he was successful, his teammates helped him with the kick from the goal line.

Ramsdale earned praise from the likes of David Seeman and Peter Schmeichel, two goalkeeping legends, and can rightly feel great about his performance.

If he keeps this up, he’s not going to let Len in the net. The fact that only Chelsea’s Mendy has a higher save percentage also plays into his hands. At the same time, Arsenal are getting three points regularly, so there is no reason to change the winning line-up.
