England punished for fan behaviour at the Euro: Closed stadium and heavy fine

England fans did not make a good impression at the summer Euro, on the contrary, they pitted almost all the other teams against each other. They have now received a heavy penalty for their behaviour at Wembley during the final against Italy.

England fans have been trampling on the other teams since the tournament began. They regularly booed the opponents’ anthems, and in the semi-final against Denmark they lasered Schmeichel in the eye.

When the capacity allowed for the final at Wembley was sold out, a few individuals were unwilling to accept it. So they decided to get to the game at any cost and tried to force their way through the turnstiles, fighting with security in the process.

UEFA called this behaviour “totally unacceptable” and opened disciplinary proceedings with England. And after three months, it delivered its verdict.

England must play two matches without spectators, the second of which the English FA can ask for probation.

Albion will thus play the duel in front of an empty Wembley for the first Nations League match of the 2022-23 season, the English FA was also hit with a fine of 100,000 euros.

Throughout the final incident and fan frenzy, 19 police officers were injured and a total of 49 people were arrested. The English FA described the behaviour of these individuals as an embarrassment to the English team.
