Rescue for Manchester United? Management should have contacted Zidane on Ronaldo’s recommendation
That would be a pretty interesting connection. Manchester United have a team full of stars, but Ole Gunnar Solskjær, it seems, is not the right coach for this set-up. The management has reportedly already contacted Zidane Zidane, one of the most successful coaches in history.
That would be a pretty interesting connection. Manchester United have a team full of stars, but Ole Gunnar Solskjær, it seems, is not the right coach for this set-up. The management has reportedly already contacted Zinedine Zidane, one of the most successful coaches in history.
Zidane Zidane must have been born in a golden cradle. He’s good at everything he touches. As a footballer, he became one of the best in history, a fact confirmed by winning the Ballon d’Or in 1998. After a glorious career, he turned to coaching, starting as Real Madrid’s junior coach, moving on to be Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant with the A-team a short while later.
And in the very first season of 2013/14, he won the Champions League with Real Madrid, the famous La Décima, the tenth trophy in the competition that Los Blancos had been waiting for since 2002. In 2016, a certain Zinedine Zidane walked onto the Real Madrid bench and won the trophy three times in a row. An incredible magnet for success.
And Manchester United needs someone like that. Solskjær may have kick-started a Sir Alex Ferguson-era atmosphere at the club, but it hasn’t led to any trophies yet. Disappointing are also the performances, and the Norwegian coach got Ronaldo, Sancho, Varane, Pogba and Fernandes in the summer.
The Red Devils have won only two of their last seven competitive matches, against West Ham in the league and Villarreal in the Champions League. They lost to Young Boys Bern in the Champions League, West Ham in the EFL Cup, Aston Villa and Leicester in the Premier League, where they also drew with Everton.
Clearly, the fans are disappointed. The packed squad remains below expectations so far, plus there are growing voices that the squad is being held back by Solskjær. Therefore, a change should come.
According to Spanish TV El Chirinquito, the Red Devils’ management should have already contacted Zinedine Zidane. It was on the recommendation of Cristiano Ronaldo, who had the best years of his career under Zidane.
It is Zidane who could be the one to make Manchester United a success machine again. After all, who else, when at Real Madrid he had an average of one trophy won per 22 games. An absolutely incredible statistic that not just anyone can boast. And he spent more than 5 seasons on the White Ballet bench.
The question is, how would an English environment suit him? But the conditions for him to settle in are ideal. He has Cristiano Ronaldo in his squad, who he has been able to use like no other coach.
He also has a fantastic relationship with Raphael Varane, whom he recommended to Real Madrid as a 19-year-old and then went on to conquer Europe with him. In addition, there is another Frenchman Paul Pogba in the squad, whom Zidane wanted to drag to Madrid several times.
Thus, the Zidane-Manchester United connection could be just the thing to lead the Red Devils back to the top of the Premier League. If there’s one thing the 49-year-old Frenchman is great at, it’s winning titles.
