Sparta Prague welcomed a very good Lyon team in the third round of the Europa League, who were caught off guard by two goals from Lukáš Haraslín. Unfortunately, the lead could not be maintained and after a brave performance the team lost.
As mentioned before, Sparta entered the match very well, leading 2:0 after 19 minutes thanks to two goals by Haraslín.
However, a goal shortly before the first half, scored by Karl Toko Ekambi, clearly helped Lyon, who scored 3 more goals in the second half.
How did the author of the two goals of the team from Leiden comment on the match? “It is hard for me to find words after this game because I think we played a very good game. We didn’t deserve to lose today, it’s a pity. We have to bounce back from games like this.”
It was the second or third goal for Haraslin in the current season. His first in a Letná jersey was in the derby with Slavia in early October. In addition to that, he also had three assists in nine games for Sparta.
Lyon then played with ten men from the 74th minute onwards, giving them a chance to equalise. How did Haraslín experience the last end of the match? “It was already a wobble, we played everything forward, when we tried to do everything for the result, but we got a goal at 4:2, so unfortunately.”
Slovak midfielder and not only him was praised by coach Pavel Vrba after the match. “I think our offense was not bad overall, whether it was Haraslín, Pešek, Hložek. They were paying with their speed. What they did in the league, they did now. Of course, it was against a better opponent. The players showed what they have in them and it is very promising for Sparta.”
The best player of the game was clearly Haraslín, who started a great game with two goals, at least from the spectator’s point of view. Whoscored even gave him a 9. The best Lyon player was Ekambi, who also scored two goals and was rated 8.4 by the server.
