Twenty-eight-year-old Bournemouth central midfielder David Brooks has found out some unpleasant news. The player has had to leave the Wales national team meeting because he has been diagnosed with cancer.
The player, who has been at Bournemouth since 2018 after transferring from Sheffield United, came out with the unpleasant news on Wednesday when he shared it with fans on social media. He left the Wales national team meeting because of the news.
Doctors diagnosed him with stage two Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a type of cancer that develops in the lymphatic system. It most commonly affects young people in their twenties.
“It is very difficult for me to write this report. I have been diagnosed with stage II Hodgkin’s lymphoma and will start treatment next week. Although it has been a great shock to me and my family, the prognosis is positive and I am confident that I will recover as soon as possible, ” David Brooks posted the news on social media.
The player also asked the media not to dwell too much on his illness. He wants to undergo a quiet treatment and when he is ready, he will publish the news about his illness himself.
Everyone at Bournemouth are willing to help the player and his family with whatever is needed during the treatment process.
