Will Sterling leave Manchester City? He admitted he’s tempted by a move abroad

Last season was not his best, but in the current one Raheem Sterling is not even one of the key figures of Manchester City. There is a lot of talk about his departure. What does the England international himself have to say?

Back in the 2019/20 season, Raheem Sterling was undoubtedly one of the best players in the world. He had great form, excellent numbers and dragged Manchester City. But then something seemed to break.

The England international could no longer build on his great form. Last season he was still getting plenty of game time, but this year is different. Pep Guardiola is not using him as much as the player would like.

There is a lot of speculation that the Catalan coach himself would like to make some interesting purchase by selling Sterling. The Liverpool product is obviously open to a possible transfer.

“If there was an opportunity to move somewhere for a longer period of time, I wouldn’t be opposed to it. Football is the most important thing for me. I only know the Premier League and I keep telling myself that I would like to try playing abroad. I’d love to take on that challenge,” Sterling let slip during an interview at the Financial Times Business of Sport USA summit.

The 26-year-old footballer also spoke about how he tolerates the lack of playing time: “I’m not a person who complains about anything. I’m not trying to make it more of a problem than it is. I just get on with my job and do what I need to do.”

According to Transfermarkt, Sterling is now valued at €90 million. The question is whether any club would actually pay that amount for him. A year ago, there was speculation about a possible interest from Real Madrid.

Sterling’s contract then expires at Manchester City in 2023.
