UEFA has decided that Sparta Prague will not be punished after its fans were accused of racist behaviour. Glen Kamara’s lawyer disagrees with UEFA’s decision and has spoken out strongly.
Aamer Anwar, Kamara’s lawyer, said in an interview: ‘ ‘I think this inaction by UEFA will be a green light for more racist behaviour. Racism is a deep-rooted problem in Czech culture.”
Adam Batuna, a Czech lawyer, did not let these comments go unchallenged. I live in Prague and many of my friends have different skin colours. I am very disgusted by what Mr. Anwar wrote. He sees the whole Czech Republic as racist.”
”Everybody can express themselves, we have freedom of speech here. But there must be no fabricated claims without proof. But that’s what happened. I said to myself, I can’t let it go on like this. I want an apology for damaging the reputation of the Czechs and the people of Prague.”
”It is certain that you can find a racist in any country. But there is no way you can label everyone from one country as such,” says Batuna, the lawyer.
Batuna will try to find a way to get the case before Czech judges and then on to the European stage.
The trial might not have happened if there had been a public apology from Aamer Anwar.
