Feyenoord coach: We know what to expect from the Czechs, we remember the Euros. But we shouldn’t make Slavia a bigger team than it is
The duel between the red and white teams will feature Feyenoord and Slavia Prague. There is some respect for the Seychellois in the Netherlands, but not too much, as coach Arne Slot says.
The duel between the red and white teams will feature Feyenoord and Slavia Prague. There is some respect for the Seychellois in the Netherlands, but not too much, as coach Arne Slot says.
Slavia entered their Conference League group with a 3:1 win over Union Berlin, while Feyenoord only drew 0:0 with Maccabi Haifa.
Coach Slot already has experience with Czech football. Last year he knocked out Viktoria Plzeň with Alkmaar, now he will play against Slavia.
“Now we will play an even better team. It’s a team that was undefeated in the Czech league last season. I think that in the Netherlands we all know what to expect from Czech opponents because we remember the Euro,” Slot reminded the press conference of the Czech national team’s 2-0 win over the Oranjes.
According to him, Jindřich Trpišovský’s charges have a great strength, which Feyenoord has to watch out for.
“We know that Slavia is strong in scoring goals. When you are unbeaten in your league all season, it shows your strength. Plus, they won the domestic cup and have started this season well,” Slot said.
But the Dutch side has nothing to worry about, according to Slot. It has started this season well, finishing third in the Eredivisie behind Ajax and Willem II, with one game less.
“Slavia is strong, but we shouldn’t make them a bigger team than they are. Union Berlin got a red card against them. On the other hand, they were a bit unlucky in qualifying,” Slot concluded.
