This summer was indeed unusually busy and dramatic. And shocking! The proof of all this is Lionel Messi’s transfer to PSG. But coach Mauricio Pochettino reportedly didn’t believe his transfer would go through. However, at a press conference, the PSG coach revealed more…
At the press conference ahead of the Champions League opener, the PSG head coach was asked several questions regarding Messi’s arrival.
It was Messi who was informed in the summer transfer window that Barcelona would not be able to afford him, even if the famous legend with the number 10 on his back agreed to a pay cut.
“Maybe I am not the best person to explain or describe the whole thing. There are many more people who could answer this question better and bring it closer to reality, which is what Leo deserves,“ Pochettino said.
He will always be considered one of the best in the world. Since he arrived, he has adapted really fast and trains hard,” he added.
The Paris coach, however, did not expect his transfer to go through. “I would not have thought it was possible (to bring Messi to the club – ed.).
And when the opportunity comes and everything happens so quickly, it’s impossible to process everything so quickly. However, there is a certain connection between us. Weare both Argentinian, we both support Newell’s (Old Boys – ed.) and we both come from Rosario.
“I’ve really admired him for a long time, especially when I was up against him as an opponent. It’s really great to have him in my ranks now. We hope that together we can achieve what the club wants,” he concluded.
PSG is now one of the most serious candidates to win the famous Champions League winners’ trophy. “It is a really unpredictable competition, but one of the most attractive in the world. But you also have to be lucky to win it,” Pochettino explained.
