Three fights, three wins, two of them by KO/TKO. That’s Makhmud Muradov’s current record in the UFC. He’ll be looking to extend his collection of wins and finishes again this weekend.
He will face Gerald Meershaert in the cage and he is pretty much the clear underdog with the bookmakers, at least in the Czech Republic.
Compared to Muradov, Meershaert hasn’t been able to rack up a winning streak in the UFC yet. He has always won at most two fights in a row, otherwise he tends to alternate wins with losses.
What to expect from the fight? Muradov probably needs no further description, but he is a great stand-up fighter, while his opponent is more of a ground-and-pound fighter, with great wrestling and a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Muradov should dominate in the standup, and with his speed and experience, he should then guard Meershaert’s efforts to take the fight to the ground. And that will be the key. If he can do that, Uzbek with the Czech heart will win.
Meershaert is the type of fighter who is used to pushing, which will suit Muradov. So it’s not out of the question that the former Octagon star will get another KO.
