Ubong Ekpai scored a beautiful goal that is being praised abroad! What did he say after the elimination against Legia?
Ubong Ekpai came to Slavia as a free player after his commitment to Plzen. The management team around Jindřich Trpišovský knows him from his time at Slovan Liberec, yet the public assumed that he would hardly break into the starting line-up, but what did not happen!
Ubong Ekpai came to Slavia as a free player after his commitment to Plzen. The management team around Jindřich Trpišovský knows him from his time at Slovan Liberec, yet the public assumed that he would hardly break into the starting line-up, but what did not happen! The hard-working Nigerian came into the starting line-up in the crucial match against Legia at the expense of other African players and scored an exhibition goal.
Srdjan Plavsic’s injury or Abdallah Sima’s physical unpreparedness certainly helped his deployment in the starting eleven. Then there were the lingering minor injuries of Peter Olayinka or the injury to Lukas Masopust, in the final match in Poland coach Jindřich Trpišovský didn’t have so many options to choose from.
Ubong Ekpai rewarded himself for the trust he showed in the coaching team by scoring a sumptuous goal that is noticed abroad. See for yourself!
the 25-year-old Nigerian is physically fit, he is fast, he can run around a really big area in games and he has no problem running at high intensity to boot. On the other hand, against Legia, it was evident that his weaker left foot is quite neglected and he should also fine-tune his passing.
“We feel a huge sadness now, we wanted to advance. But I also want to thank my teammates, we left everything on the field,” Ekpai said after the loss to Legia Warsaw.
It is impossible to disagree with these words. Fans of success are of course looking for the culprit of the double elimination, but there is no point in solving what ifs.
The Slavs left everything out in every game and what more can you ask of your team? Everybody wants to win, but that’s why football is such a wonderful sport, sometimes even the worst team can win or score.
Let’s hope the Red and Whites have picked up their European bad luck and will now attempt to make the European Conference League journey as interesting as possible.
