In this season of European competitions, the Slavs have experienced a gradual fall from the Champions League preliminary rounds to the Europa Conference group. It is undoubtedly disappointing for both the fans and the team, but it is time to learn from the setbacks and slowly move on. Coach Jindřich Trpišovský has let it be known several times in the past that he wants a tough opponent, preferably from Great Britain. High difficulty will also be seen in the newly formed European Conference League!

Although it is the weakest European competition in terms of performance, the Seychellois have been given a really tough group. So they can’t complain about the lack of competitive matches.

Before we get into the reactions of the coaching staff, let’s remember that in Group E Slavia drew Feyenoord Rotterdam, Union Berlin and Maccabi Haifa.

Only one team will advance directly from the group, so it will definitely not be an easy task for Slavia. The second-placed team in the group heads into the barrage, where it will meet one of the teams that finished third in the Europa League group stage.

Reactions of Jindřich Trpišovský and Jaroslav Köstl

“It’s a very interesting group for the fans and for us,” said the head coach, who was still showing his disappointment from the Legia match.

Who does Jindřich Trpišovský see as the favourite of the group? “It’s hard to say after the draw. I haven’t seen some teams for a long time. With only one team advancing directly, I think there will be a fight at the top. For me, this group is comparable to the teams we met in the Europa League.”

“Rather than guessing a favourite, I think the group will be very even, ” the Slavia coach added.

How does his younger colleague Jaroslav Köstl see the draw? “Considering what was in the pool, we can be satisfied with the draw. All the teams will be tough, but they will play in beautiful stadiums. We’re not going to enjoy it, we’re going to work hard and we definitely want to advance,” said assistant Köstl, not hiding his understandable ambitions.

“We actually have such spies in two teams. Petar Musa was at Union and Mick van Buren is actually a Feyenoord boy. I think his (van Buren’s) grandfather even won a title and a European trophy there. So we will definitely talk about it,” the young and talented strategist shared some interesting facts with the fans.
