The Czechs are playing for the first place, so the duel with Belgium will be more important. First place would guarantee direct qualification to the World Cup. If the Czechs do not reach the second barrier place, nothing would happen. Thanks to their good position in the Nations League, Soucek and co. are almost certain to qualify for the barrier.
Nevertheless, if the Czechs want to think about the first place, they must defeat all opponents unconditionally. The first obstacle in the September cycle is Belarus, who have three points from two matches and a score of 4::10, having received eight goals from Belgium.
Jaroslav Šilhavy had to say goodbye to captain Vladimir Darida, who retired from the national team after the Euro. He cannot count on the injured Bořil, Kolář, Masopust, Krmenčík, Pekhart, Čelůstka or Kadeřábek.
Schick cannot play in Wales due to a red card, while transfer obligations prevented Brabec and Zima from starting. All of them are permanent members of the national team.
Jaroslav Šilhavý said that he already has the line-up for Belarus, so how could the Czechs go into the qualification fight?
Possible line-up of the Czech national team::
Vaclik
Coufal – Kalas – Jemelka – Matějů
Soucek – Holeš
Pešek – Barák – Jankto
Hložek
Tomas Vaclik is the clear number one in goal, as is Vladimir Coufal on the right side. Kalas performed well at the Euro, but the first of the pair of stoppers Jemelka – Kaša will be preferred. On the left, the coach has a choice between Matějů and Havel.
In the midfield, the proven pair of Souček – Holeš will probably start, Pešek is in good form in Sparta. Barák will probably get a chance on the sub-field, Jankto will return to the line-up on the left side after the Euros. Adam Hložek will probably get a chance ahead of Matěj Vydra.
