Former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has decided to change his career and will now kick the ball instead of his opponents. He has signed a contract with Russian third division team FC Legion Dynamo.
Khabib ended his career with a perfect 29-0 record at UFC 254, where he overpowered Justin Gaethje. Although UFC President Dana White tried to persuade the Russian champion to return at any cost, he was not successful.
the 32-year-old fighter made good on a promise he made to his mother not to fight again, and thus took a different path in the sport. He has been drawn to football since he was a child, and according to his own words, he is a big fan of Real Madrid and is personally acquainted with Cristiano Ronaldo.
He announced his intention back in January on his Twitter account. “I am preparing for my football debut. I am a free player and I am ready for your offers,” Khabib announced at the time.
And so he made a deal with Dynamo Legion. The team from Makhachkala plays in Russia’s third highest competition and has acquired some serious reinforcements. At least in terms of marketing.
The club shared a photo of the club president shaking hands with the Russian fighter and added in an official statement
Will Khabib be an asset to his new team?
