Slavia had a bit of a shock when they failed to get past Ferencváros in the third round of the Champions League. Although the Hungarian opponent didn’t show any great performance in either match, thanks to two mistakes made by the Susians, they advanced further.
The Susians have to recover quickly from this game. Another failure would be fatal for them. Not so much from a financial point of view, because the money collected in the Conference League is close to that in the Europa League. But definitely in terms of prestige, because there is a hell of a difference between playing in the Europa League and playing in the newly founded competition.
At home, the Red and Whites will be able to rely again on the amazing atmosphere that propelled them forward in the match against Ferencváros. The same cannot be said for Legia, who will have the proverbial cauldron of the home team closed for the home rematch.
Jindřich Trpišovský will probably want to surprise his opponents, so he might prepare some surprises in the line-up again. Michael Krmenčík is already on the roster, but he might be more likely to be involved in the rematch.
The question is the composition of the stopper pair. The duo Kačaraba-Zima started against Ferencváros in the first match, while Holeš replaced Zima in the rematch. The great news for all Slavs is that Ondrej Kudel, who is the absolute leader of the defence, will be available for the rematch.
The captain Jan Bořil, who missed the first game due to health reasons, is also on the roster. Only the Slavie management team knows at the moment whether he will be preferred or the great Oscar.
Slavia can’t afford any hesitation. In the first duel at home it must get into a good position, which it will only maintain in the rematch. I think that the Susians will manage the match.
