Europa League
Trpišovský is troubled by a large number of players. How did he comment on the strength of the Legion led by Pekhart?
Despite three league wins, Slavia is definitely not satisfied. The reason for this frustration is the unsuccessful match against Ferencváros, which the Susians failed to win. However, there is no time to mourn, now Jindřich Trpišovský’s charges must at least win the Europa League!
Despite three league wins, Slavia is definitely not satisfied. The reason for this frustration is the unsuccessful match against Ferencváros, which the Susians failed to win. However, there is no time to mourn, now Jindřich Trpišovský’s charges must at least win the Europa League!
This is where Slavia has been so successful in recent years. In the spring they even reached the quarter-finals, where they lost to Arsenal. It would therefore be a great pity if such a quality and attractive opponent were to miss out in the group stage.
“It’s a qualification for the Europa League. We have managed to go very far in this competition in the last three years. We have always played big games and we hope it will stay that way,” Trpišovský told the press conference before the match against Legia.
However, the health of the players is not playing into Slavia’s hands! “The health side is not very good, there are a lot of absentees. I don’t dare to name all of them, but they are important players for us, be it Michael Krmencik, Petr Ševčík, Peter Olayinka, Srdjan Plavšić and the long-term sick players Lukáš Provod and David Hovorka. Yesterday, Honza Kuchta dropped out of training,” Trpišovský commented on the squad.
Slavia has enough problems, but there is also positive news. “Honza Bořil is in full workload. Alex is already training, I think he will be 100% ready for the match. Ivan Schranz was sick on Monday, on Tuesday it was better.”
Slavia failed especially in the first game in Hungary, where they gave their opponents two goals. The Sevilla team tried to make up for it, but it just wasn’t possible that day!
All the more reason to expect that Slavia will approach this match with all humility and will honestly take a good result into the rematch. The quality of the Prague team is enormous, despite the large number of players in the squad.
Moreover, the Red and Whites will be able to rely on the great atmosphere at home, which propelled them forward in the match against Ferencváros. The same cannot be said for Legia, who will have the “Tribuna Sever,” where the famous home cauldron is located, closed for the home rematch.
How does Trpišovský see the opponents?
“In terms of the size of the club it’s similar to Ferencváros, in terms of playing style it’s a little bit different type. Their way of playing is very different compared to Ferencváros. There are a lot of Polish players playing there. Ferencváros had one Hungarian in the starting line-up, otherwise they were foreigners.
It’s a team that is very competitive, strong and well-equipped in terms of endurance. Ferencváros relied on fast players, counter-attacks. They didn’t have many tall players up top, and Legia has Tomáš Pekhart and others,” the coach of the Susians is aware of the Polish team’s strengths.
